There’s a lot to be said about interior design books, and today I’m dedicating an entire post to them. There was a time (not long ago at all) that I really wanted to go back to school for interior design or at least take some kind of credited course. I still wish I could do that, and maybe I will in the future, but Parker and I decided that it wasn’t a reasonable option for us (financially) to swing that. In my opinion, a combination of great experience, design books and endless research is the next best thing. No one is becoming an interior designer just from reading design books, but they sure do offer a lot of information for the home decor enthusiast. Below are my favorite books for learning the ins and outs of decorating. Each book was written by a home decor blogger, which I’m personally drawn to most because I’ve found that their advice is attainable and relatable.

She is a genius in the design and styling world and has a wealth of knowledge to share. If you follow her blog, you will pick up some of that, but her book that was recently released is basically her brain bottled up in book. The book starts out with a style diagnostic – if you are unsure of what home decor style you identify most, this book will show you AND show you how to decorate for that style. Do I need to say more?

Every space that Erin creates is so lush and wonderful. I adore her work. Her book, Elements of Style: Designing a Home & a Life, is not only a beautiful coffee table book, but offers great insight. Erin is another blog favorite for so many more reasons than her down to earth sense of humor and incredible style. Don’t take it from me – the description on Amazon reads, “Like a funny best friend, she reveals the disasters she confronted in her own kitchen renovation, her struggles with anorexia, her epic fight with her husband over a Lucite table, and her secrets for starting a successful blog.”

I mentioned this book on my “What’s My Home Decor Style – Bohemian” post. I think it’s a must have for most everyone. Unless you are a drawn to a full-on traditional style and nothing else, this book is so incredible to read. I think most everyone has some bohemian in them, and learning from the Queen Boho herself is such an experience.
